all summer in a day

2:45 a.m.standing out on the balcony smoking a cigarette while the rain pours down all around me, i am reminded of a movie i saw when i was in elementary school.
it was mostly in black and white and it was about this school on venus. the kids were all inside their classroom, while it rained outside. because in the film, on venus, it's always raining. and i think they only get one moment of sunshine in a really long time. it was kind of a depressing movie, but i loved it.
my grandma had taught me when i was young that when lightning strikes, if you count the seconds until the thunder rolls, then you would know roughly how many miles the storm is away from you.
lightning just struck, and the thunder preceded right after it. there's nothing like being home on a rainy night.
