9:11 a.m.

so last night i went to santa monica to 14 below. aisha went with me, and we met up with tine and her sister, and my friend april. april's boyfriend is managing this band, panst optional, and they were performing their first big gig. she said they needed people to come and support them. i've heard about 14 below before, and i really wanted to check the place out. so we went, i had "a couple" drinks, and we checked out some bands. it was cool. the first band was kind of funky in a lenny kravitz sort of way. the second band, i didn't like too much. they just seemed like they were still trying to cash in on the nirvana grunge of the 90's, style wise and music wise.

but pants optional was great. they were reminiscent of the vines and the strokes, style and music. they seemed to have a lot of fun on stage, and they brought a large crowd in. so that was cool. because all night it seemed dead. so when they started playing, it really seemed like a party. maybe that was the 4 beers i had by then. but still, it was fun to hang out with my friends on a thursday night in some seedy bar in santa monica. their rendition of "part of your world" from "the little mermaid" was pretty cool. unexpected. but cool. he just started singing, "look at this stuff, isn't it neat?" and everyone thought they were just tuning, and he was just playing with the mic. but then the whole band busts in and they start playing punk style. it was crazy in weird way. at the end of the night, they bust their own rendition of dre's "the next episode." bustin their own rhymes, all in good fun. tine was going crazy. cuz she's a little hip hop head. her and april are both not much into punk, so they were pretty happy to get a little taste of hip hop that night.

so that was my wonderful evening. gotta get to work now.
