prophecy's politics

why don't i care?

all this talk about the state of the union address and politics and war is pretty boring to me. i'm sorry. i don't mean to come off as an uneducated ingnoramus, but, i just don't care. i've tried to care before. believe me, i've tried. i was part of model united nations for three years in high school. but mainly, because my friends were all in it, and i was great at writing speeches. but when it came down to knowing the facts and remembering them out of genuine understanding, i didn't care. i just wanted to go on trips, and i got to go to new york out of it! which was one of the best experiences in my life.

but outside of that, i just don't care about politics. i know i should be a good american and vote and know where i stand. but if i don't even bother to research what i'll be voting for, or if i don't care to, then why should i vote? because someone tells me to? because someone tells me what i should or should not vote for?

another thing. lately, more so than ever, i've been very anti-mtv. that's right, someone under the age of 50 is actually anti- M.T.V. - i hate it! i use to be an addict, but once you come off it, it gets harder to go back. no matter how much they tell you that you should be unique and be okay with who you are and how you look, MTV still continues to exploit impossibly beautiful people. have you seen the real world lately? thin twig-like girls and buffed-the-fuck-out guys all sleeping with each other creating drama where drama doesn't exist. but hey! that's reality t.v.! the best thing since instant coffee! right? sure, but not for me. it makes me sick. although, i am huge fan of clone high and i'm just starting to get into the osbournes, but yet that's another show where ::cough::kelly::cough:: drama exists where in 'reality' it doesn't. pun intended.

i guess as hard as i try to be hip and cool, i'm just not hip enough for mtv. occasionally, i'll watch mtv2 or one of the music stations just for the music. but as far as programming goes, i think it'll take some time to renew my faith.

so what brought about this bitter vent on mtv? is the whole "rock the vote" crap. mtv's attempt to get the youth to educate themselves on politics and vote. blah blah trendy trendy blah blah. although for a long while, my only news source was mtv news, but those were part of my mtv addiction days.

okay enough ranting... i don't know why, but i felt like i needed to address my stand on politics. i hate telling people that i don't really care because sometimes it just makes me feel dumber than i know i am. i don't feel very patriotic. yet, i know i'm more of a patriot than most of these white hicks and their pick-ups with the american flags waving off every corner who like to wear white robes at night, burn crosses, and shave their heads. (did i get that all in there? i think so) it's front. it's just all a front. everyone thinks that if they can hide behind the flag, then they'll be fine. but people don't realize that what they have to worry about is themselves and the people they care for. i don't want to go to war. i know that much. but, i'm sorry to say, don't you think america's just a big bully, and like all bullies, we need to get our ass kicked to wake us up? but how does it happen without significantly hurting innocent people? but did we ask that when we decided to bomb other countries?

okay enough. enough of it all!

on a much more happy note. i finally had unbelievably great sex last night. i will write about it in another entry. good times.
