dlove

i seem to have lost that "diaryland" feeling. i remember when i started working here, i would engulf myself in entries everyday. i'd live vicariously through people all over the world. i'd live in their shoes, see with their eyes. one of those dlanders who i loved reading was dlove. he's gone now. he doesn't write anymore. i've been meaning to check out his archives, but i never got around to it.

i was thumbing through his archives, and i came across a burning man entry, one of many. i found this quote to be quite true, and i can relate to it.

"The subject of Burning Man is a great litmus test for people as well. If I mention Burning Man to someone and they cringe because they think it's just a bunch of drugged out naked people listening to techno music, I know that I can never be great friends with that person. The same can be said for people who don't "get" the Simpsons."

that quote just says it all. it's definitely going on my quotes page. dlove would've been a great person to have met out on the playa. it's amazing who i've met in the course of a year here on diaryland. i've talked to so many, albeit online, but it might as well have been in person. i think we, as dlanders, have an advantage over some of the other people in our lives. we're able to peer into our thoughts, into the way our minds work, whether it's through images or words.

i think i need to start going through some of the old diaries i used to read. start going through some archives. i feel a little nostalgic today.
