free food and new music

12:56 p.m.

out of momentary hunger, i ran up to a friend here at work to see if she had an extra cup-o-noodle in her desk. she said that she didn't have one. but there were other people from the office that overheard her, and in moments, i was bombarded at my desk with many choices of free food.

i was offered three different types of soups, bagels and cream cheese, an orange, a banana, and a can of hawaiian punch. if i didn't feel appreciated before, i do now. everyone jumped at the chance to feed me, and all i really wanted was a pre-lunch snack. as difficult as it is for me to ask for food, it is just the same to turn down food out of politeness. i now have enough food for lunch, meaning that i don't have to leave anywhere to get something to eat.

i never realized how much i love bagels. if you ever get a chance to, you should pick up Ellen Miller's Like Being Killed. there's a whole section in that book, amidst the drugs and depression, that make you appreciate a good bagel.

amongst the bombardment, asha is asking me about bands i don't know, and then walks up and lends me her book of CD's to listen to.

wow, free food and new music. today is a good day.
